Pied or White Wagtail धोबन, श्वेत खज्जन, खंजना (Motacilla alba) is a sparrow-sized, slender and long tailed bird. They feed whilst walking or running on the ground, and constantly wag their tails. They are seen in open habitats, often around water bodies, livestock, on the side of roads, rooftops, playgrounds, cricket or football pitches.

In all plumages long black tail with white outer tail feathers and two whitish wing-bars are distinctive. Summer male is striking black and white, while female has black replaced with dark grey. In winter and immature plumage is paler and greyer, but always with some sort of breast-band.

Pied or White Wagtail धोबन, श्वेत खज्जन, खंजना (Motacilla alba) breed in Europe, Asia and North Africa; there are 9 or 11 sub-species that are currently recognised.
