You will find Common Moorhen जलमुर्गी (Gallinula chloropus) almost everywhere, marshes, lakes, ponds, river banks, streams, puddles in the fields; almost anywhere and everywhere where there is vegetated freshwater body. Moorhen or Common Moorhen or Eurasian Moorhen is the most commonest and widespread of crake and rail family. Spread from south Japan to U.K, South & South East Asia and Africa. There are around 6 sub-species recorded.
Moorhen जलमुर्गी (Gallinula chloropus) is pigeon sized, overall dark-slate with brownish back, wings & tail. Distinctively yellow-tipped bill, red frontal sheild on forehead and ziz-zagged white line along the flanks and under tail. Both male & female are similar, juveniles are also similar but duller and greenish bill.
