Birds Around Me 0077 - Green Sandpiper (तुतारी) - Tringa ochropus
Green sandpiper (तुतारी) - Tringa ochropus Sanjivini Nagar, Jabalpur, MP, India January-2018 Green sandpiper (तुतारी) - Tringa ochropus Sanjivini Nagar, Jabalpur, MP, India January-2018 A bird with a wonderful yodeling call, the green sandpiper ( Tringa ochropus ) is a small wader or shorebird. Its dark, almost black upperparts, pale underparts, and white rump are distinctive. It frequently bobs up and down when standing. The picture in this post was taken in Jabalpur and I have seen quite a few waders at the same location like Common Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Wood Sandpiper, Lapwings, etc. The Green Sandpiper often appears nervous and will fly off with a low zig-zagging flight when disturbed or threatened. Green sandpiper doesn’t nest on the ground, like a similar Common Sandpiper and Wood Sandpiper, but in the former nests of birds, often up in the trees. -- Ashutosh Jhureley @BirdsAroundMe Also see: Birds Around Me 0110 - Common Sandpiper सामान्य तुतारी, टुटवार,...
