Common Linnet (Linaria cannabina) is a shy and nervous bird and difficult to approach. Often seen on the ground or in low bushes. Outside of the breeding season, they are seen in flocks and at times form large roosts in the evening. They have got an unusual seed-eating habit.  Common Linnet (Linaria cannabina) is smaller than a House Sparrow. Small slim finch with a longish, forked tail and short bill. The Male has unmarked chestnut back, crimson patches on either side of the breast, crimson forehead, and grey head. The Female is more streaky and lacks any crimson marks. Crimson marks on males become more vibrant during the breeding season.
