5 Golden Rules of Birding
On my last walk couple of weeks back, I was very annoyed and upset to see to what extent
some photographers can go and tricks (dirty) they used to get their desired
result.
I want to remind them with golden rules and am ready with print-outs for next walk.
Five Golden Rules
that Bird Photographers MUST follow:
1
YOU should maintain fair-enough distance from
the bird and
NEVER disturb a bird.
Especially while feeding its chicks, any
disturbance might lead to the parent abandoning the nest and eventually death of the chicks.
2
YOU should NEVER
force an action on the bird.
Most birds conserve
energy during in-action, especially in winter. If you force them fly, they
might not be able to get enough food to survive during scarce days.
3
YOU should NOT or
AVOID photographing nesting birds unless you can maintain a fair, respectful
& non-intrusive distance.
Especially while
parenting, any disturbance might yield to the death of the chicks.
Quite a few species of birds abandon their nests forever if they see a threat
or intruder.
4
YOU should NOT
feed or bait a bird to take a photograph.
By doing so you are
changing feeding habits and behaviour of birds; leaving them prone to diseases.
5
YOU should NOT
alter the natural habitat or environment of the bird.
You anyway are
intruding their territory and negatively impacting their environment - litter, smell, sound, space, threat.
Rules.Respect.Thanks.
