This large bird measures about 75–85 cm in length, with a long, down-curved bill and broad wings. The legs are long and sturdy, adapted for walking across fields and wetlands.

The Red-naped Ibis is widely distributed across India, Pakistan, and Nepal, thriving in open fields, wetlands, riverbanks, and agricultural landscapes. During flight, its broad wings and slow, deliberate wingbeats give it a majestic appearance. The species nests on tall trees, building large stick nests where it lays two to four eggs.
