Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius) is a relatively small corvid, dusty pink with bold black and white markings and a beautiful blue shoulder. This is a beautiful crow and a common resident of Britain except Northern Scotland.
Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius) is often seen in flight, slipping form tree to tree or flying longer distances from wood to wood. Wings are broad and rounded, black tail and white on rump and wings conspicuous white, blue on wings make it a beautiful crow. Sexes are similar, juvenile are same. When excited they raise it short crest. They are normally seen individually or in pairs, a shy bird. Their voice is a loud, harsh and screeching; similar to Magpie.
They were heavily persecuted in 19th and early 20th century for wings, primarily for hats. Since middle of 20th century their numbers have recovered.
