Birds Around Me 0109 - Black Bird (Turdus merula)
Throughout the year, especially Spring & Summer, if you haven't heard song of this bird before dawn and after dusk, you are not in England. The common blackbird (Turdus merula) is a species of true thrush; also called the Eurasian blackbird or simply the blackbird.
The blackbird is the most abundant breeding bird in Britain. In fact, there is no country in Europe where this bird is not seen. Blackbirds breed in all European countries except Iceland, where it is often seen in Winters.
