Birds Around Me 0199 - Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis)

The Barnacle Goose was once thought to spontaneously arise from barnacles, hence its name. This bizarre belief stemmed from the observation of goose chicks appearing near barnacles on the coast, but of course, it's now known that they hatch from eggs like any other bird! Silvery-gray wings and back: The wings and back are covered in beautiful silvery-gray feathers with fine black and white bars, creating a shimmering effect in

Birding Places - RSPB Snettisham Nature Reserve

Image
'Whilrling Wader Spectacle' is an amazing, phenomenal event where tides force thousands of wading birds to move in tandem. The spectacle is no less than migration in Serengeti. And the place is no other than RSPB Snettisham Nature Reserve in Norfolk. Tens of thousands of waders arrive at the site for wintering and during high tide, they have to move to higher ground across the beach. It is just magical to see them fly above your head, in thousands.
