Brent Goose (Branta bernicla) breeds farther north than any other goose, those wintering in England breed in Siberia and northern Russia. The head, neck, and upper parts of the body are dark, apart from a small white next patch. Underparts vary but under the tail is always white.

Wintering feeding grounds are along the coast and estuaries where there are mudflats with sufficient food. They are also seen around the farmlands. Grazes vegetation on land or in water, eelgrass, algae, and other salt marsh plants.
