Birds Around Me 0037 - Bar-tailed Treecreeper (Certhia himalayana)
Like other Treecreepers this is also bird that lives on tree, Bar-tailed Treecreeper (Certhia himalayana). It is a small and very fast-moving bird, usually seen picking insects under the bark of the tree. An interesting thing about all Treecreepers is they always go up the trees, never seen coming down. Once they reach towards to top or don't want to go further up, they will hop towards the bottom of another tree. They usually build nests between loose bark and trunk. Nests are very untidy as well with twigs, feathers, spider webs, moss, wood chips, etc. There was a nest on the other side of the tree in the picture below.
Bar-tailed Treecreeper can be separated from other treecreepers by tail barring which can be seen in the picture. I clicked picture of Bar-tailed Treecreeper in Binsar, Uttarakhand, India in 2018. It is also called Himalayan Treecreeper and is found in woods across Himalayan foot hills.
